Norfolk, VA hospital will require ID badge to be worn by night visitors

Starting on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 Sentara Norfolk General Hospital tightens up security measures on it’s premises at night. Between hours of 8PM and 5:15AM visitors will have to show photo ID card at the entrance and wear visitor ID badge during the visit. “This is for the safety of our patients, visitors and staff,” says Danny Achterfeld, safety and security manager at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. “Most hospitals lock their doors at night except for their emergency rooms. By welcoming visitors through River Pavilion, we can assure that everyone has a reason to be here and help them get where they’re going.”

Sentara Norfolk General is another hospital which enhances security by requiring photo ID card and wearing visitor ID badge during the visit.
