UAE ID card should take no longer than 10 days to issue

Emirates ID Authority (EIDA) announced today the delays would be dramatically reduced. Dr Ali Khouri, EIDA director general said “From our side, it will take a maximum of five days to produce the cards, as we are re-engineering our procedures and logistical work,” Additional high speed ID card printers will allow for higher system throughput. After Ramadan a trial period for the ID card services use will begin. Card expiration date will be set to 5 years as smart-card experts recommended for safe lifespan. 3.8 million national ID cards have been issued so far.
